Testing the KSGER T12 V3.1S soldering station
In this video, I show you my take on testing the KSGER T12 V3.1S soldering station.
I got this product for testing and reviewing from Banggood, so this video can be regarded as a promotional video. However, my review is unbiased and while making the video I was trying to highlight both positive and negative experiences about this product.
As other YouTubers already pointed out, even though the device has a metallic enclosure, the enclosure itself is not grounded. This can be regarded as a safety issue because if something goes wrong, the enclosure can become live which is dangerous. Another common issue is that one of the live traces on the circuit board goes below one of the heatsinks. The heatsink is floating, but it still can pose a threat for serious damage. In the video, I discuss both of these issues. Other tiny issues are that the menu has a few typos, some of the menu items are not written correctly. Also, in my case, the yellow part of the handle was a little bit ugly.
Otherwise, I am really satisfied with this product. It comes with 3 different tips which are suited for different tasks. This makes the soldering station versatile. The tip heats up rapidly. It takes just a few seconds and the target temperature is reached. The heat retention of the tip is also good. I could desolder larger parts easily as well as I could keep both legs of a component heated simultaneously. The display is just the right size. The letters are easy to read, the arrangement of the information is good. The cable is super flexible, heat resistant, and long enough. It is perfectly suited for the task.
