Custom-made reflow hot plate - Final assembly

In this video, I show you the final assembly of my custom-made reflow hot plate. I fixed some cables and connections, fixed the heating plate and assembled everything on a plywood sheet. So now I have a fixed, permanent assembly that I can pick up any time and solder my SMD circuit boards.

The last assembly was a huge mess because of the following things:

  • the wires were all over the place and it was difficult to use the device

  • the heating surface was just sitting on the ceramic insulators, it was not fixed to anything

  • the heating surface was not grounded

  • The 3d-printed assembly that held the mica heater became very soft and slightly deformed by the end of the reflow process

This final assembly has corrections for all the above issues. I fixed the whole system on a plywood sheet, so everything is stable, nothing gets soft or warped during the reflow process and it is effortless to handle the device (storage…etc.)
