Brief introduction of strain gauges - Part 1

In this video I briefly talk about strain gauges in general. I tell you why and how we use them, and I tell you how we can obtain usable values using them. The principle is relatively simple. Instead of trying to measure the very small changes in the resistance values of the strain gauge upon straining it, we put the strain gauge into a Wheatstone-bridge and convert the resistance change into a voltage change. It is much more easier to measure small changes in voltage. I provide a small summary for this and I also provide a simple formula for converting the output voltage of the bridge into strain.
