Coil winder project - Part 3 - Proof of concept

In this video I show you the most recent progress of my automatic coil winder project. The electronics is fully functional now, the two stepper motors work independently and they do what they should do in the desired manner. All the calculations and the whole circuitry is working well in general. The two stepper motors are fully controlled by the parameters of the coil to be made (bobbin width and number of turns) and the speed of the main shaft.

What are still need to be improved:

  • A nice tensioner for the copper wire (HW)

  • A bit better mechanism overall (HW)

  • Probably a more professional feeder (HW)

  • Adjustable coil pitch (SW)

  • Manual winding by holding down a button (SW)
